Various 2014 Winter Images

Here are a few Winter images taken in January and February.  There is nothing special here; these are mostly to document the snow, and to tell those morons who say “we don’t get Winters like we used to” to shut the hell up.

The music for this page is “Down on the Upside” by Soundgarden, which was released in 1996.  “Dusty” and “Burden in my Hand” are my favorites.

JAN_18_2014_003Nikon D5000 with a Nikkor 18-70mm F/3.5-4.5G ED lens shot at F/7.1 and a 1/800 of a second shutter speed.  ISO 100.  Focal length: 70mm (APS-C).

Tracks in the snow; likely from Remme, Scott and Nancy’s dog next door (who is always welcome in my yard).  I shot this in Program; shame on me.

“Neither rain, nor sleet, nor snow.”  After 3 active photo years, I plan to back off some in 2014.  However, I do want to do more monochrome work this year.  We’ll see how that goes.

Dormant shrub outside my front door.

A row of snow.  I shot this in both portrait and landscape aspect ratio, and portrait was the easy winner.

JAN_18_2014_001ABWNikon D5000 with a Nikkor 18-70mm F/3.5-4.5G ED lens shot at F/6.4 and a 1/640 of a second shutter speed.  ISO 100.  Focal length: 70mm (APS-C).

This is a bit soft as I shot it through a rather unclean window.  Still, the sharpness isn’t bad.

FEB_1_2014_003Nikon D5000 with a Nikkor 18-70mm F/3.5-4.5G ED lens shot at F/8 and a 1/400 of a second shutter speed.  ISO 100.  Focal length: 46mm (APS-C).

My house; practically buried.

JAN_18_2014_002Nikon D5000 with a Nikkor 18-70mm F/3.5-4.5G ED lens shot at F/6.3 and a 1/640 of a second shutter speed.  ISO 100.  Focal length: 70mm (APS-C).

My ADT security sign; pretty much buried.  It fully re-emerged just about a week ago (this was taken on February 22).

Guess what’s in the forecast as I build this page?  Another 10″ of snow.
